Animal Control

Our Animal Control Department is in place to ensure safety of the community for Greenfield residents and animals, by enforcing ordinances related to animal control.  The Animal Control Department is responsible for capturing and impounding dangerous or stray dogs, writing incident reports, and providing humane care to animals under their supervision.

PET LICENSE Required!

The cost for an annual Pet License is $3.00 with a current rabies vaccine and is required for all residents within city limits. 

If your dog is picked up by Animal Control and held at our local dog pound, there will be a $50.00 fee if the dog is picked up the same day it's put into the pound. There will be a $10.00 fee for every additional day the dog is in the pound & the owner will be required to obtain a current pet license before the animal is released.

Did you know you can adopt a dog from the City Pound?  If the animal is not a danger risk and has not been claimed within 10 days, it is eligible for adoption.  Contact City Hall for further information regarding eligible dogs and the adoption process/fee.  

(Adoptee will be responsible for obtaining a rabies vaccine within 1 month of adopting & registering the dog with the City of Greenfield if the adoptee lives inside City limits.)
