According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics common duties of a police officer include patrolling designated areas, enforcing laws, answering calls for help, arresting individuals suspected of committing crimes, issuing citations, testifying in court and conducting traffic stops. 

The Chief of Police performs all duties of the Marshal by law.  A Chief of Police must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.  The Chief of Police and Policemen shall be conservators of the peace and shall be active and vigilant in the preservation of good order within the city.
